设计学系

DEPARTMENT OF  DESIGN

华中科技大学设计学系设有环境设计与数字媒体艺术两个专业，1997年经国家教育部批准招收艺术设计本科生，艺术设计系2003年设立“设计艺术学”硕士点，2009年设“艺术学专业”硕士点，2010年获“艺术学”一级学科硕士点，2013年评为湖北省重点学科，2015年设立二级博士点招收室内设计方向博士,其专业经历了十余年的学科初始建设到学科稳步发展的过程。两个专业方向均是以建筑学，城市规划，土木工程，计算机等学科为专业技术基础与支撑的新型综合性学科。专业课程主要有：室内设计，景观设计，建筑内外环境设计；新媒体艺术设计、城市设计、互动媒体专题设计、数字展示设计。重技术，宽学科，厚基础，合理的师生比例结构，严谨的教风与学风保证了设计学系生源质量和教学质量的双优。  

设计学系具备优质的教学空间与专业研究基地。设计学系设有国家教育部“基于工程技术平台的艺术设计人才培养模式创新实验区”一所，“新世纪优秀人才支持计划”一项。配有“数码艺术设计实验室”、“装饰施工实验室”。依托华中科技大学建筑设计研究院，设有“城市景观设计研究所”、“数字城市设计研究所”与武汉楚天激光公司合办有“新媒体艺术研究所”。至2015年已有15届本科毕业生，毕业生就业单位主要集中在建筑、规划、景观、装饰工程等重点设计单位与装饰工程公司、大型地产公司及大专院校，毕业生均成为单位专业技术骨干人才。设计学系生源质量、教育质量与毕业就业率均居国内同类专业前列。 

设计学系与国内外知名大学保持密切交流，近年先后有近百名学生与青年教师赴美国、德国、英国、意大利、法国、台湾地区诸多高校留学、交流、访问。多所国外及海外大学持续与设计学系进行联合教学。             

设计学系现有在岗教师30人，其中教授6人，副教授10人，讲师12人,助教2人。

The department of Design Studies in HUST has two fields: Environmental Design and Digital Media Arts. HUST began to recruit undergraduates and postgraduates majoring in Art Design upon the approval of the Ministry of Education of the PRC in 1997 and 2003 respectively. In 2009, we established “art professional” master, In 2010, we obtained the “art” first-class master. The major goes through the process of initial construction and steady development in ten years. The two majors of our department are all the new types of comprehensive subjects which based on the professional and technical foundations and supports of Architecture, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering and Computer technology. The major courses include Interior Design, Landscape Design，Building internal and external environment Design; Digital Media Arts Design, Urban Design, Projects of Interactive Media Design, Project of Digital Exhibition Design . Furthermore, HUST is equipped with valued technique; diversified courses, solid foundation and reasonable ratio between teachers and students required by all courses of Art Design, and its rigorous styles of teaching and study ensure the excellence of both student source quality and teaching quality of the Art Design Department.

The department of Design Studies is set in the School of Architecture and Urban Planning. It has high quality research foundations and teaching spaces. There are one “Innovation Art Design Talents Training Model Experimental Plot Based on Engineering and Technique Platform” belong to the Chinese Ministry of Education, and one “New Century Excellent Talent Support Plan”. The Laboratory of Digital Art Design and Decoration Construction were set in for supporting teaching. There are “Urban Landscape Design Research Laboratory”, “Digital City Design Research Laboratory”, and “New Medium Art Research Laboratory” which corporation with Wuhan Chu-lian Laser Company. Up to 2015, fifteen grades of undergraduates have graduated and mainly pursued careers in design organizations and decoration engineering companies like building, planning, landscape and decoration engineering, large-scale real estate companies and colleges, and all of them have been professional key technical talents in their units. The students' quality，the education quality and graduate employment rate are all in first level of similar professional in domestic. 

The department of Design Studies keeps close communication with famous Universities on domestic and abroad, including USA, Germany, UK, Italy, France and Taiwan. There were nearly hundreds of students and young teachers went to universities above to study, visit and communication in recent years. 

In the Art Design Department, there are 30 teachers on the job, including 6 professors, 10 associate professors, 12 lecturers ,2 assistant。
